Here’s how you program the 24 hour timer on MSZ-GL Series air conditioners.

Model: MSZ-GL25/35/42/50/60/71/80VGD

Remote Control: SG15D/SG15E

These instructions suit the MSZ-GL25/35/42/50/60/71/80VGD models. Other instructions are available for:

  • MSZ-GE22/25/35/42/50VAD - with standard KM09A remote

The ON/OFF timer allows you to set the time of day you would like the air conditioner to switch on or off or both on and off.

This is a simple timer that does not use the days of the week. If you want to set on and off times for specific days of the week, please refer to “Weekly Timer Operation” in the User Manual.

Before you start, make sure the current time on the remote control is correct. If not, refer to “Setting the current time” in the User Manual.

Turn the air conditioner on.

The modes are Auto, Cool, Dry, Heat and Fan. Auto is usually the best mode for both heating and cooling.

Set the temperature by pressing the TEMP + and - buttons.

Now the air conditioner is ready to have the timer set.

Note: If the unit is in Heating mode, or Auto Heat, the indoor unit fan may not start automatically. This is the Cold Air Prevention feature, and it designed to avoid a cold draft.

Program ON timer

To set the air conditioner to switch on at a certain time, say 7:30 in the morning, press the timer on button.

The timer on symbol will start flashing.

Press the increase and decrease buttons to set the time. Note that the clock uses a 24 hour display.

To save the start timer setting, wait 10 seconds for the timer on symbol to stop flashing.

Now the air conditioner will switch on at the programmed time.

Program OFF timer

To set the time the air conditioner switches off at, say 9:00 am, press the timer off button.

The timer off symbol will start flashing.

Press the increase and decrease buttons to set the time.

To save the end timer setting, wait 10 seconds for the timer off symbol to stop flashing.

Now the air conditioner will switch on and off at the programmed times.

Cancel timers

To cancel the timers, press timer on to cancel the on timer and press the timer off button to cancel the off timer.

The display will go back to the clock.

Electric

If the air conditioner is already on, and you want to set what time the unit will switch off at, say, when you are going to bed, press the off timer button and only set the time the unit switches off at.

The air conditioner will continue to run until the time you set for the off timer.
